Our Story
Sculptural candles. Original forms. Made in Los Angeles.
We believe a candle can be more than something you light. It can be an object you choose for its shape, its presence, and the way it belongs in your space.
Founded in Los Angeles in 2022, LAWA began with a simple idea: to approach candle making through the lens of design.
Rather than focusing on fragrance, we were drawn to form. The curves, proportions, textures, and unexpected silhouettes that could turn an everyday object into something worth keeping on display.
Today, our candles are designed to be lived with, whether they're lit or not.
The People Behind LAWA
LAWA was founded by Kseniya and Polina, two women originally from Belarus who set out to build an independent design brand in Los Angeles.
We started in a one-bedroom apartment with a small budget, a few molds, and the determination to create something of our own.
There was no established studio or large production team. We learned by making, testing, photographing, packing, and improving every part of the process ourselves.
As the business grew, so did our ambitions. What began as a small collection of sculptural candles evolved into a studio developing original designs and manufacturing custom pieces for brands and creative projects.
Through every stage, we've remained closely involved in the work, from the first concept to the finished object.
Designed to Be Seen
We see candles as part of a room's composition.
A carefully considered shape can bring balance to a shelf, introduce texture to a table, or create a focal point without demanding attention.
Our signature collection is intentionally unscented, allowing the design to take precedence and the candle to exist naturally alongside the other objects in your home.
Each piece is hand-poured in Los Angeles using plant-based soy wax and cotton wicks. We also prioritize plastic-free packaging, keeping the presentation thoughtful from beginning to end.
Beyond Our Collection
Alongside our original designs, LAWA develops custom sculptural candles for brands, designers, and creative teams.
We work across concept development, 3D modeling, custom mold creation, sampling, and production, translating ideas into physical objects made from wax.
Our collaborations have included custom sculptural candles for BOY London America's runway presentation and a miniature interpretation of Particle's Elephant Chair for AZUR during LA Design Week.
These projects reflect the direction we're continuing to explore: the space where design, craftsmanship, and creative collaboration meet.

LAWA has grown considerably since those first candles were poured in our apartment, but our approach remains the same.
We believe in original ideas, considered details, and creating objects that bring something distinctive to everyday spaces.
