It Starts With an Idea

From there, we look at what can translate beautifully into wax: the silhouette, scale, surface, color, texture, wick placement, and the small details that determine whether an idea feels just as compelling as a physical object.

Some concepts can be translated almost literally. Others need to be simplified or reinterpreted so they pour beautifully, release cleanly from a mold, remain structurally sound, and still feel true to the original idea.

That process is part design and part candle making.

And often, it is where the most interesting version of the idea emerges.

Once the design direction is established, we move into sampling.

We develop the mold, test the wax, refine the color and finish, and create a physical sample for approval before moving into the full production run.

Every LAWA sculptural candle is then hand-poured in Los Angeles.

That matters to us.

Even when we're producing a larger custom order, there is still a human process behind every piece: pouring, unmolding, finishing, inspecting, and preparing each candle individually.

The result isn't something that feels pulled from a catalog and customized afterward.

It was made for the project from the beginning.
